Politicians

What is moral?

There are many things that we don't consider moral in a small group of people. For e.g. forcing your neighbor to pay for something that he doesn't want to under the threat of a gunpoint would be considered immoral in anybody's book. But, when we add multiple layers and designate some people with fine hats and tittles to do so on our behalf, the distance suddenly makes it moral in our mind. How? I fail to understand.
Is it because we think that "we" as a "society" have decided what things we can force people to pay for under gunpoint it is moral? But, is there a "we" and a "society" that decides ? What is this "we"? OR is it really decided by that small group of elite which speak nice words and claim good intentions while really working for their own selfish motivations? f the "we" is so intelligent how does that "we" always end up choosing the worst folks to become that deciding elite?

Politicians make impossible possible .... or do they?

Do you think that it is possible to have lower electricity prices without building new plants? California voters think so and the politicians promise that.
Do you think it is possible to reduce cost of housing and at the same time have open space laws that limit the supply of land? Voters believe that is possible too...
This and more is being discussed by one of my favorite economists Thomas Sowell here.

Even politicians are surprised when the public believes what they say....
